As in previous years, the high school building of the Rózsakerti Demjén István Református Elementary School and High Schoo once again hosted a gathering organized by the Hungarian Polio Foundation on the occasion of Polio Day.
The polio virus caused polio epidemics in our country until 1959. It is thanks to the almost complete vaccination coverage that doctors are slowly only learning about this disease tangentially, although new diseases still occur in some poor countries of the world. Survivors live with the consequences of paralysis. We strongly hope that in the not-too-distant future, like smallpox, this pathogen will become medical history.
